Open Fest 2007
At last, this year I managed to get to the Open Fest. It was truly new event for me though that I met a lot of old friends whom I haven’t seen for quite a while. I also met lot of new people, exchanged many business cards. In two words - it was great fun. Especially yesterday night, when after the close of the conference for the day almost everyone went to the “Krivoto” for a beer (or two-three). I really like “beer-networking” style of events.
Anyway, speaking of the conference - the Web 2.0 BarCamp was a useful and interesting panel. The discussions that were held on some new Web 2.0 ideas that are being currently developed and implemented here in Bulgaria made me realize that Bulgaria is not that behind the global trends and that despite the small market that our country is, there are people that are creating products (though in my opinion not that much of “innovative” products) here in Bulgaria, for Bulgarians.
Today I slept until noon and pretty much missed the conference. Just heard Jonas Öberg’s lecture on Free Software business models. From this Open Fest I learned about some new networking IT events that are ahead in the next few months, so I’m looking forward to them.
