Land of absurds

We live in a country of absurds and this is no secret to anyone that is living here. The reason why I’m writing this post is the football game Levski-Sioni, a match from the preliminary round of the European Champions League.

The match in essence was a social disaster – both in the literal and figurative sense of the word. The team played well, but I’ll not comment on that. I’ll comment on my disappointment from the people on the stadium, the so-called „fans“. I’m disgusted from the behavior of some of them that most probably would cause that our favorite team will be playing the next game in this tournament abroad or without any spectators.

Why am I disgusted and disappointed? Due to a couple of reasons.

It’s a complete absurd to throw mini-bombs and toches at the playground, trying to hit some of the players and call yourself a true Levski fan. NO! That’s a pattern of behavior of a vagabond and a vandal rather than of a fan. Doing all these misdemeanor is definitely not a way to show off anything different, but the profane stupidity and ignorance to ideas of the fair football game and being a football fan of Levski.

I’m totally pissed off of flying toches, of the shockwaves from the mini-bombs, from the quarrels and fights that were started and fought around me. Actually, a few men did fight some big time just two meters away from me. And there were no cops to break it.

No cops! In a country where cops are just a mere TV images and animation heros from the comic book, a situation in which it was truly necessary for the police to intervene – they simply stood up there and watched a show. 1000 policemen, the salary of which is paid from the tickets of every single man on the stadium just stayed there and were spectator first hand. Another absurd.

What else to say? I ran out of words because I’m too emotional now. Maybe because of the events that happened around me, so close to me, and due to that I’m so influenced and biased. Maybe, or maybe not. The latter I say because it’s high time, in the year of 2006, being a country that is almost in the EU, being a country that claims to be a „normal“ country – this is not the way to it people! This is not the way!
