Rehearsing the parade
„On the next traffic lights, please stop and wait the tanks to pass by.“
No, that’s not a line from a movie. This is what a police officer said (or rather shouted out) to all the cars that had stopped at the traffic lights next to the Halite last night.
Indeed, on the next traffic lights there was a military column of tanks and all kind of military mobile hardware. The army guys were training for tommorow’s parade for St. George’s Day, which is the Day of the Army. And I sat in my car, turned the motor off and watched the whole parade rehearsal, a little bit in advance.
It was quite a surreal experience because it was a bit shocking to me to see so much military hardware, situated in the very center of Sofia, in peace time (in fact, this happened in the quite peaceful hour of 9 something p.m.). It’s unfortunate that I didn’t had a camera on me to take photos.
