Snowboarding
It were two great days of snow – today and yesterday! I finally made a mid-week breakout from work and studying to go up in the mountain for some relaxation, skiing and snowboarding. Yes, that’s right. Snowboarding! Yesterday was my first time ever I did snowboarding. And it was great!
The two days I went on skiing (on Wednesday) and snowboarding (yesterday) with Mitaka on the newly reconstructed Lale slope, up in the Vitosha mountain. I am sincerely surprised by the way the slope is reorganized – same slope, but there are several new features – lightning (for night skiing and snowboarding), music background, magnetic card entrance to the lift (so that you don’t lose any precious time waiting in a cue for the lift). Maybe some day (in the far future, hope not) Bulgarian ski and board slopes will look something like the ones in the Alps. Maybe. Anyhow.

Anyhow, now to the snowboarding. The interesting and exciting part for me these two days. I hired a board and all the needed gear from Moten at the Aleko. For about 25 leva I got pretty good gear – Rossignol boots & board. Perfect gear for a beginner :)

At first I really did a lot of falling. Mitaka showed me the basics of snowboarding. Well, I thought that it is pretty much like skiing, but it’s not. Very different principles, though similar. From the first time ever snowboarding I couldn’t learn how to turn, but still I managed (and to do it well at the end) the back turning on the snow, as well as the dragging down the slope. So it is something – for a beginner ;) In here special thanks to Mitaka for showing me the basics.

It were great two days. I got to do the same breakout from the civilization again soon. Though that the mobile do has some coverage in the mountain. That’s having a bluetooth handsfree device proves to be quite helpful while skiing/snowboarding! :)
