Bulgaria in NATO: Finally

Bulgaria in NATO: Finally!

Today is a true historic moment for my country – the long expected accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). I think this is a date that our children will study in their history textbooks. Despite the fact that the many critics of Bulgaria’s place in the Alliance, the NATO membership at least means a couple of things:
1. Benefits for the local economy – as the army needs to be modernized and to in accordance to the NATO standards, the infrastructure of the country had to be also enhanced.
2. More security for making business in Bulgaria
3. And last but not least, it does mean a bit of recognition for our small country.

Bulgaria in NATO: Commemorative stamp Bulgaria in NATO: 50 stotinki special edition

In here I want also to mention the over-enjoyment of Bulgaria’s NATO Membership. Personally, I find a bit of exaggerate this event. The special coins of 50 stotinki, the big concerts around the country, the special post stamps, even the extra non-business day are somewhat too much. Yes, this event is significant to our history, but aren’t politicians going too far?
